SAHUARITA DANCE CENTER/SAHUARITA ARTS CENTER

STUDIO POLICIES EFFECTIVE 08/01/2012 (PLEASE SEE TUITION AND FEES FOR THOSE POLICIES)

Registration, Tuition, Fees and Payment Policies: Please Refer to the “Tuition & Fees” page for any questions regarding tuition and other fees. Please note, most fees incurred are non-refundable and non-negotiable.

Dress Code: Please Refer to the dress code on the description page for each class, which can be found under “Class Info".

Class Schedules: The schedule is based on anticipated enrollment and may change at any time. Teachers are also subject to change on occasion.

Parent/Guardian Participation: For picture day and all recitals and performances, it is essential that we have parent participation. An adult representative from each family must sign up to help on the Sign Up sheets that will be posted in the Sahuarita Arts Center lobby. Sign up is on a first come-first serve basis. Families who do not sign up within the given time frame (TBA) will be assigned a position by staff. Help needed varies, but we always need parents to help backstage to supervise children and help ensure students are in proper costume with hair and makeup done. These parents will escort their group to the stage, and may watch their children perform from the side stage area. Other help needed includes costume repair, making accessories for costumes, stage and auditorium set up/clean up, ushers, ticket sales, poster distribution, advertising, etc. No experience necessary!

Class Cancellation Policy: In the case of instructor illness or other unforeseen event when a substitute cannot be found, a makeup class will be offered or students may attend a class another within one level of their current class level. Classes may be canceled because of insufficient enrollment. In the event a class is canceled, you will be notified and given the opportunity to transfer to another class. If you decide not to enroll in another class, you will receive a full refund of tuition fees. If a class is canceled, registered students will be informed by phone. Sahuarita Dance Center reserves the right to terminate lessons to any students. In such a case a refund for unused classes will be given.

Dropping Classes at Parent Request: To drop a class, you MUST complete a “drop class” form by the 15th of the month PRIOR to the month you wish to cancel! The class schedule change will then take effect for the following month. Your class will NOT be dropped or changed by informing your instructor. Please plan ahead! You MUST complete the “drop class” form to make your change effective. NO REFUNDS will be given for classes not attended. Drop forms are available online at www.sahuaritadance.net REMEMBER, if you need to drop classes but do not complete a “drop form”, your tuition will continue to be charged and you will be responsible for tuition until the time we receive your drop form.

Changing Classes: With the agreement of the SDC administration, enrollment in one class may be exchanged for enrollment in a different class due to schedule conflicts or other reasons. You must complete a class transfer form to request the change. All changes are contingent upon available space in the new class and dancer proficiency. Additional tuition will apply if the new class requires a higher rate.

Absences/Missed Classes/Make up Classes: If you are unable to attend a regularly scheduled dance class you may make it up in any other class at that level or one level above with instructor’s permission. We do not give credit toward the next month’s tuition. If a month has less than 4 classes due to a holiday, students may elect to schedule a makeup class. All makeup classes must be scheduled within 4 weeks of missed class! *Students participating in rehearsals (in our outside of class) for performances are allowed one excused rehearsal absence per semester. Students with more than one absence jeopardize their eligibility to perform.

Tardiness: Students arriving after the studio door has been closed by the instructor are tardy. Four tardies in one semester is considered one absence. *Students participating in rehearsals (in our outside of class) for performances are allowed one excused rehearsal absence per semester. Students with more than one absence jeopardize their eligibility to perform.

Teacher Absences: Sahuarita Dance Center reserves the right to engage substitutes for classes when the regular teacher is absent. If a substitute teacher is not available, a makeup class will be scheduled by the teacher. If you are unable to attend the scheduled makeup class, you are welcome to attend another makeup class. No credits or refunds will be issued in this class.

Student Removals from Classroom: Sahuarita Dance Center reserves the right to bar any student from entering class or to remove any student from class due to disorderly conduct/disruptive behavior, inappropriate dress (please see dress code for each class), or any other reason determined by the teacher and/or management as unsuitable behavior or dress.

Student Drop Off/Pick Up: Please do not leave your child at the studio unattended before/after classes. We ask that parents do not drop their children off more than 10 minutes prior to the start of class, and pick them up within 10 minutes of class completion. THANK YOU!

Class Observation: Dancers learn best in an environment free from distractions. Parents of young dancers are allowed in the classroom the very first day of classes only. Thereafter, parents only will be allowed in class during specific observation times set up by the Director. Exceptions, with the approval of the teacher, are made for preschoolers who need additional time to feel comfortable and secure. There ARE view windows available at the Sahuarita Arts Center and Rancho Sahuarita Clubhouse, and parents may be able to observe their students from outside of the room. We do ask, however, that you please avoid bringing siblings/small children to the waiting/viewing areas whenever possible. Performances:

  • In December, students have an opportunity to perform on our Holiday Shows, which in the past have been either “The Nutcracker” or “Oh Holy Night”. Watch for information regarding auditions in early fall!
  • The recital performance is held in May. This gives our students a wonderful opportunity to display a finished product reflecting all their hard work. The recital is optional but you must let the director know prior to November 15th if you will not be participating, as the Costume Fees are due by December 1st.
  • The performing teams will have the opportunity to perform throughout the year at various local events.

Costume Policy: In most cases, costumes have to be ordered in December in order to arrive in time for the May recital. It is also not normally possible to exchange for a different size once ordered. Therefore it is important that the dancer be present for measurements. Some costumes may require minor adjustments by the parent prior to the performance. For new enrollments after the first of December, an additional $10.00 expedition fee will be added to the recital costume fee.

Schedules, Special Dates and Events: It is the responsibility of the parent or adult student to be aware of the school activities such as recitals and dates the school is open and closed. The school will post notices online and through the email mailing list. If students wish to participate in workshops, recitals, evaluations and competitions, it is the parent or adult students’ responsibility to be aware of all applicable dates and deadlines. It is the parent or adult students’ responsibility to take care of all fees related to these events. It is also the responsibility of the parent or adult student to inform the school of any address, telephone and/or email change.

Pictures and Videotaping of Classes/Performances: We do not allow videotaping of any class unless approved by the director. Pictures are allowed only before and after classes, with the instructor’s permission. Videotaping and photography will be allowed during the recital rehearsal only. No videotaping or photography is allowed at the recital. We have a professional video company taping the recital and the DVD is available for purchase.
